The Illinois Association of Couples & Family Counselors (IACFC) is a professional community dedicated to counselors who work with couples, families, and relationships across Illinois.

We create opportunities for counselors to connect with one another, strengthen their clinical work, and contribute to the growth of relational counseling within the profession.

What We’re Building

We believe professional community should be more than a name on a membership list.

IACFC is working toward a more connected community where counselors can learn together, exchange ideas, build relationships, and have a voice in the issues affecting couples and family counseling in Illinois.

Meet the Team

  • Shemiah Derrick, CGT, LCPC, CADC

    IACFC PRESIDENT


    Shemiah Derrick is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Gottman Therapist, educator, and Clinical Director of Profound Peace Psychotherapy Collective. Her work focuses on couples, relationships, and translating relationship science into practical, culturally grounded care.

    As President of IACFC, Shemiah is focused on strengthening connection among counselors across Illinois, expanding opportunities for professional learning and collaboration, and building a more active community for clinicians committed to couples and family work.

  • Deneen Holmes, LPC, LPC

    SECRETARY

    Deneen serves as Secretary of IACFC, helping support the organization’s communication, coordination, and continuity. In her leadership role, she helps keep the work of IACFC moving forward while contributing her perspective as a counselor committed to couples, families, and stronger professional community.

  • Jamesa Pruitt, LCPC

    MEMBERSHIP CHAIR

    Jamesa serves as Membership Chair of IACFC, helping strengthen the connection between the association and the counselors it serves. Her work focuses on supporting member engagement, welcoming counselors into the IACFC community, and helping create meaningful opportunities for connection across Illinois.
